The Hudson Lions Club participates in the NexTrex® Recycling Challenge, a program that transforms plastic film—like grocery bags, bread bags, and other flexible plastics—into durable, eco-friendly Trex® composite decking. By collecting and recycling this material, we help reduce landfill waste and encourage sustainable practices throughout our community.
Collection: Volunteers gather clean, dry plastic film from local residents and businesses.
Recycling: The collected plastic is sent to Trex® facilities, where it’s transformed into composite decking material.
Community Rewards: For every 1,000 pounds of plastic film collected, Trex® provides a recycled plastic bench, which we donate for use in parks, schools, and other public spaces.
Plastic film is one of the most common forms of plastic waste but is often not accepted in curbside recycling programs. By participating in the NexTrex® Challenge, we divert significant amounts of plastic from landfills while creating tangible benefits—like benches—that everyone in the community can enjoy.
Residents can contribute by dropping off clean, dry plastic film at designated collection points in Hudson.
